What inspired you to enter the fashion industry, and what keeps you inspired today?
My journey into fashion began with a personal act of rebellion. Growing up, I felt like an outsider and struggled with conventional expectations. I started 'spoiling dresses,' as my mother would say, by repurposing old clothes and crafting unique pieces. It was through this unconventional self-expression that I found my confidence and my voice.

My clothing brand, Peter Ken, is a testament to this journey. A brand built on the belief that fashion is armour, a tool for unlocking one's true potential. What keeps me inspired today is my desire to scale that personal transformation for others. I'm building ModaIQ to provide the same platform of liberation I found, helping millions of African talents find their voice and a pathway to success in a structured, visible, and profitable way.
How do you define innovation in fashion today?
Innovation in fashion is no longer just about a new trend or a groundbreaking design; it's about solving the industry’s foundational, structural problems. In Africa, we have immense creative potential, but it's held back by what I call a 'broken infrastructure', a lack of visibility, fragmented supply chains, and a severe skills gap. My brand, Peter Ken, challenges traditional sartorial norms with a sophisticated and unconventional aesthetic. At ModaIQ, we take this a step further: we're innovating by building the digital infrastructure to mend this system. We use technology like AI not to replace human skill, but to amplify it, to streamline workflows, and to create an intelligent ecosystem where undervalued talents can find their value and command recognition.

What is one piece of advice you’d give to the next generation of fashion-tech talent?
My advice is to embrace the intersection of creativity and technology, because 'clarity is currency'. In a world of noise, the ability to clearly articulate your value is what gets you seen and, more importantly, paid. Don't wait for a perfect system. Instead, use technology to build one for yourself. Create a digital portfolio, learn the tools that will amplify your work, and find communities that provide the structure and verification you need. Your gift deserves to be seen, valued, and paid for. By mastering this clarity, you stop struggling and start building your own legacy.
Tell us about a challenge you've faced in your business or personal life. How did you navigate it, and what did you learn from the experience?
A significant challenge has been turning my personal creative journey into a scalable, structured business model. My clothing brand, Peter Ken, was born from a desire for creative rebellion and self-expression. I quickly learned that passion alone isn't enough; the business side of fashion is complex and often unforgiving. This is what led me to pivot from just being a designer to becoming an 'architect' and 'guide' in the industry. I had to step back and build the very systems I needed. This experience of learning to translate a creative vision into a functional, data-driven framework is the core philosophy of ModaIQ. Helping other talents navigate that same challenge by providing them with the systems and strategy they need to succeed.
Share a quote that holds special meaning for you. Why does it resonate, and how has it influenced your journey?
A quote that holds special meaning for me is “The world had to watch”. This is more than a quote; it's a powerful narrative of resilience and creative liberation. It resonates deeply with my own journey of feeling overlooked and misunderstood, and finding my voice through unconventional fashion. It has influenced my path by reinforcing a core belief: when a talent has a vision, a purpose, the audacity to be themselves, the world will pay attention. It's the emotional bedrock for the 'ALL STARS' vision of my clothing brand and the guiding light for ModaIQ's mission—to ensure every creative is given the platform to shine so brightly that the world has no choice but to watch."
